How impulse response deconvolution works

An impulse response (IR) captures how a space, speaker cabinet or microphone colours sound. Instead of firing an impossible perfect impulse, engineers play a controlled exponential sine sweep and record the result. IR Maker recovers the impulse response by deconvolving the recording against the reference sweep using a regularized inverse filter, which stays stable outside the sweep band and rejects out-of-band noise.

The optional noise stage uses phase-preserving spectral subtraction: it estimates the steady hum and room-noise spectrum and removes it from each recording while leaving the phase untouched, so the resulting IR keeps its true transient and stereo image. Results export as individually named WAV files in a ZIP, or as a single multitrack WAV.

Ableton rack export. Choose the Ableton rack format to receive a ready to use Audio Effect Rack (.adg) with one convolution chain per microphone plus a Samples folder. Unzip it, drop the .adg into Live, and blend your mics. The chains use the free Convolution Reverb Pro device, so install that Ableton pack first.
