Rec
Light

A small light for your studio door that is on while you record

RecLight connects to your DAW over WiFi. Hit record and the light outside your door goes on. Stop and it goes off. Nobody walks in on a take again.

No app,
no cloud

A free plugin, AU and VST3, talks to the light over your local network. Plug in USB, connect once, and it stays connected. Nothing leaves your studio and nothing needs an account.

  • Lights up the moment your DAW starts recording
  • Runs on your own WiFi, 2.4 or 5 GHz
  • Powered by USB — adapter, power bank, anything
  • Mounts with screws or adhesive pads

Questions

Before
you reserve

Which DAWs does it work with?

Anything that hosts AU or VST3 plugins — Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Cubase, GarageBand, Studio One, Reaper and so on.

Mac or Windows?

macOS now, on Intel and Apple Silicon. Windows support is planned — say so in the pre-order and it helps set the priority.

How does the light know I am recording?

The free RecLight plugin watches your DAW’s transport. When recording starts it messages the light over your local WiFi, and when it stops the light goes off. No cloud involved, everything stays in your network.

What do I need in my studio?

WiFi, 2.4 or 5 GHz, that reaches the spot outside your door, and a USB power source for the light — a wall adapter, a power bank, anything with USB.

How do I mount it?

On the wall or directly on the door frame. Screws or adhesive pads both work, the housing is flat and light.

What does pre-order mean exactly?

You reserve a unit from the first batch and nothing is charged. Once the batch is confirmed you get an email with payment instructions. Until you pay you can back out at any time, no questions asked.

When does it ship?

As soon as the first batch is built. You will be kept posted by email — realistically a few weeks after the batch is confirmed.

Where do I get the plugin?

Free download, further up this page. It needs the RecLight hardware to do anything useful.
